You will discover that we are a congenial group of quilters (both women and men) who love quilting and sharing our knowledge and skills. Our ages span from 20-something to 80-plus and our experience and skills range from beginner to expert and teacher. We welcome new members, and you need not be referred or sponsored by a current member.
An ongoing focus of the NCQA is support of local charities. A raffle for our member-designed and sewn "Opportunity Quilt" is our primary fundraiser for this purpose. We encourage our members to make at least one "Good Cheer Quilt" per year, using a guild-prepared kit. The quilts are donated to Interfaith Community Services and other local charities for distribution to children in need. Members also volunteer to make fleece blankets for donation to Palomar Forensic Health Services for individuals in crisis.
Our annual dues are $30 per member, payable on or before July 1st. New members joining after January 1st pay $20. Our Membership Form can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Our monthly meetings consist of a presentation by a local or national quilting expert or a speaker on a topic of special interest and opportunities for participation in drawings for the monthly fat quarter basket, block of the month, mini quilts, and door prizes. The white elephant table with many donated fabrics, patterns and notions for purchase is very popular. And of course, there is the camaraderie of fellow quilters and refreshments provided by our members!
NCQA currently includes two "Neighborhood Groups" that meet outside our monthly meetings. These groups are involved in many different projects separate from but in conjunction with the guild. They also design and make quilts for our Quilt Show and Sale. Ask any guild member about joining a group!
The guild also arranges a special bus trip to the popular Road to California quilt show held in January each year.
